9 Best Profound Alternatives for 2026

Cituna checks seven AI engines daily with Search Console and writes the fixes, from $39. Eight more Profound alternatives by need, read 28-29 Sep 2026.

Disclosure: VisibilityOS is published by the team that builds Cituna, one of the tools discussed here. Read this as our view, not a neutral review.

The best Profound alternative for checking ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Grok, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode daily, with Search Console, at a price you can read is Cituna: it does all seven from $39 a month and writes the fix for each answer you are missing from (checked 29 September 2026). For other needs: Otterly.AI has the lowest published price, $29, with Microsoft Copilot; Writesonic and AIclicks replace Profound's content agents on a small budget; Promptwatch gives agencies unlimited client projects from $199, where Profound charges $399 per client workspace; and AthenaHQ ($295) and Goodie AI ($399 billed annually) come closest to Profound's Enterprise breadth with a price on the page (all checked 28 or 29 September 2026). Teams already paying for an SEO suite can add AI tracking inside Semrush, Ahrefs or SE Ranking instead; that group is set out separately below.

Profound no longer sells a self-serve brand plan. Brands get a 7-day free trial or a custom Enterprise contract, and its $99 plan is for agencies (checked 29 September 2026).

How this list works: each tool had to publish a self-serve price and answer at least one gap on Profound's own pricing page: no brand price, a narrow trial, no Grok, no Search Console, or per-client agency fees. Entries are ordered by entry price, month to month, low to high. Where a vendor publishes only an annual figure (Semrush), we use it, and ties go alphabetically. Every rival fact comes from the vendor's own pages, read on 28 or 29 September 2026.

Why do people look for Profound alternatives?

Each reason below comes from Profound's own pricing page, read on 28 and 29 September 2026.

  • No price for brands. The brand view shows two plans: a free Trial and Enterprise at a custom price. There is no $99 Starter or $399 Growth brand tier on the page now, though AI engines still quote those figures (see below).
  • A narrow trial. The trial offers "50 prompts run daily for 7 days" on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. The prompts are preset and cannot be customised, and the trial has no API or exports.
  • No Grok. Enterprise lists up to nine answer engines, and Grok is not one of them.
  • No published Search Console link. Google Analytics appears among Profound's Agent Analytics integrations, but Search Console does not.
  • Agency costs stack up. Agency Growth costs $99 a month for 10 short pitch workspaces. Each full client workspace is a $399 a month add-on with 100 prompts on ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews, and the plan has no API. An agency with five clients would pay $99 plus 5 x $399, or $2,094 a month.

What does Profound cost in 2026, and what changed?

Profound's brand pricing changed in September 2026. Until then it sold two self-serve brand plans, Starter at $99 a month and Growth at $399. Both were removed in mid-September, according to pricing write-ups found in one web search on 16 October 2026, and its own pricing page, read on 29 September 2026, showed only the free trial and Enterprise for brands. Agencies kept a self-serve plan.

PlanBefore mid-September 2026Pricing page, 29 September 2026
Brand entry planStarter, $99/moNone: a 7-day free trial, 50 preset prompts on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews
Brand mid planGrowth, $399/moNone
Brand top planEnterprise, customEnterprise, custom, up to nine engines, API, exports, SSO/SAML, SOC 2
AgencyAgency GrowthAgency Growth, $99/mo for 10 pitch workspaces, plus $399/mo per full client workspace, no API

The change matters in two places.

A brand can no longer start on a card. The cheapest way to pay Profound for your own brand is now a sales conversation, and Profound publishes no Enterprise figure, so no saving against it can be computed. Every alternative on this page lists a price.

Agency cost grows with each client. At $99 plus $399 per client, five clients cost $2,094 a month and ten cost $4,089. Promptwatch's Kick-off plan is $199 a month with unlimited client projects, Peec AI's agency plans start at $245 for 10,000 credits, and Otterly.AI's Agency Partner status adds unlimited workspaces to its $189 Standard plan (checked 28 and 29 September 2026). Those three do not rise per client, though each caps prompts or credits.

Engines still quote the old brand tiers. In our 28 September scans, Grok and Google AI Mode gave Profound's price as $99 a month, the figure that now buys the agency plan (see "What do AI engines recommend instead of Profound?").

What does Profound still do well?

Profound's Enterprise plan has one of the broadest engine lists in the category: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, DeepSeek, Claude, Google AI Overviews and Exa Search, checked daily. It adds an API, CSV and JSON exports, SSO with SAML and SOC 2. No other tool on this page lists Exa Search.

Tracking is only half the product. Profound's AI Marketer agents research, write and report, on credits, alongside Opportunities and Profound Sheets. Agent Analytics connects to Google Analytics, Akamai, AWS, Cloudflare, Fastly, GCP, Netlify, Vercel and WordPress to show how AI bots read your pages.

It is also the name buyers hear. In our scans on 28 September 2026, the seven engines named Profound in 72 of 153 answers (47%) to 22 buyer questions about AI visibility tools, second only to Otterly.AI. For a large team that wants tracking and agents under one contract, it remains a coherent choice. The head-to-head is in Cituna vs Profound.

What are the best Profound alternatives?

1. Otterly.AI (best for the lowest published price, with Copilot)

Otterly.AI's Lite plan costs $29 a month, or $25 billed annually (checked 28 September 2026). Every plan tracks ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot daily. Gemini and Google AI Mode are $9 add-ons on Lite and Claude is $29. Grok is not mentioned anywhere on its site.

Lite includes 15 prompts. Standard, at $189, has 100 prompts, plus API and MCP access. Agencies on Standard or Premium can take Agency Partner status, which lifts Standard to 150 prompts and adds unlimited workspaces, pitch workspaces, branded Looker Studio reports and one invoice. That is a flat answer to Profound's $399 per client workspace. Otterly gives recommendations and a GEO audit, but it does not write content for you.

Strength: Perplexity and Copilot, which Profound's trial does not cover, for $29, with a trial that needs no card.

Limit: 15 prompts on Lite, no Grok, and no content writing to replace AI Marketer.

Pick it if: you want to track Profound's core engines yourself on a small budget, or you run an agency and want unlimited client workspaces on one subscription.

2. Cituna (best for Grok, Claude and Search Console at a published price)

Cituna costs $39, $119 or $399 a month (checked 29 September 2026). From $39 it checks seven engines daily: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Grok, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode, with Google Search Console connected. Grok is on no Profound plan, and Claude is Enterprise-only there.

Like Profound's agents, Cituna acts on what it finds: it writes the fix for each gap and publishes articles. An MCP server is included. The trial lasts 3 days and needs a card.

Strength: Grok, Claude, Search Console and written fixes, at a published price.

Limit: Microsoft Copilot, DeepSeek and Exa Search, all on Profound's Enterprise list, are not among Cituna's seven engines. Its 3-day trial with a card is also shorter than Profound's 7-day trial.

Pick it if: you want Profound's idea of tracking plus content without an Enterprise contract, and your buyers use Grok or Claude.

See Cituna's plans at cituna.com

3. AIclicks (best for AI-written articles on a small budget)

AIclicks' Starter plan costs $59 a month (checked 28 September 2026). You choose 3 engines from 11: ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Google AI Mode, Grok, Meta, DeepSeek and Mistral. Checks are daily and Starter covers 30 prompts.

The content side is what makes it a Profound alternative. Starter includes 5 AI-optimized articles a month and the Clicky AI agent, Pro ($189) has 15 articles and 4 engines, and Business ($499) has 30 articles and 6 engines. GA4, API and MCP start on Pro. Starter and Pro include a 3-day free trial that needs no card. Agencies get custom pricing based on client volume, and Search Console is not on its pricing page.

Strength: monthly articles and a Grok option on a $59 plan.

Limit: 3 engines and 30 prompts on Starter, and no API or MCP until $189.

Pick it if: you valued Profound mostly for content agents and want articles each month without an Enterprise budget.

4. Peec AI (best for unlimited users and credit-based agency plans)

Peec AI's Starter costs $95 a month, or $80 billed annually (€85 or €70 in Europe), read from its pricing page's own script on 29 September 2026. Starter has 50 prompts, checked daily, on 3 models chosen from ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini and Naver AI. Perplexity is an add-on, and Claude and Grok are Enterprise only. Each extra model costs $35 a month on Starter. Every plan lists unlimited users.

Agency plans run on credits rather than per-client fees. Essential costs $245 a month for 10,000 credits, about 111 prompts a day, and Growth ($495) is aimed at 3 to 10 clients. The agency plans include white-label reporting and free pitch projects. Peec ranks recommended actions but does not publish content. The two are compared in Profound vs Peec AI.

Strength: unlimited users, and agency pricing that does not multiply per client.

Limit: 3 models per plan, with Claude and Grok on Enterprise only.

Pick it if: you want daily tracking for a large team, or an agency plan priced on usage.

5. Promptwatch (best for agencies with many clients)

Promptwatch's Essential brand plan costs $95 a month (checked 28 September 2026) and tracks 4 models from 11 listed, including Google AI Mode, Claude, Gemini and Grok. Copilot is not listed. Essential includes 50 prompts, daily checks, Search Console, and MCP and API access, with a 7-day trial.

Its agency plans are the reason it is here. Kick-off costs $199 a month, Growth $399 and Scale $799 (checked 29 September 2026). All three include unlimited client projects and unlimited pitch projects, 10 seats, a white-label dashboard, API and MCP. Profound's Agency Growth has no API and charges $399 a month for each full client workspace.

Strength: unlimited client projects with API and MCP from $199 a month.

Limit: 4 models at a time, no Copilot, and AEO articles only from the $245 Professional brand plan.

Pick it if: you run an agency with more than one or two clients. More agency options are in the best AI visibility tools for agencies.

6. Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit (best for teams already on Semrush)

Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit costs $99 a month per domain, billed annually, on its pricing page, and its knowledge base says $99 a month (checked 28 and 29 September 2026). The month-to-month figure loads with JavaScript and was not readable. It tracks 25 custom prompts daily for one domain, with 300 AI analysis reports and 1,000 prompt research queries a day. Its pricing card names ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini and Perplexity.

Extra domains cost $99 a month each, and 50 more prompts cost $60. There is no free trial for the toolkit. Search Console and Google Analytics come through the $10 Base Report add-on. Brand Performance, updated weekly, generates recommendations, but the toolkit does not write content. Enterprise AIO, Semrush's custom-priced tier, is the closest like-for-like with Profound Enterprise.

Strength: competitor research on any domain from Semrush's prompt database, inside a suite many teams already pay for.

Limit: 25 prompts, pricing per domain, and no trial.

Pick it if: your SEO team lives in Semrush and wants AI visibility on the same bill.

7. Writesonic (best for content production with Search Console)

Writesonic's Starter costs $99 a month, or $79 billed annually (checked 28 September 2026). Below Enterprise it tracks ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews daily, with 50 prompts. Search Console is on every plan.

The content tools do the work AI Marketer does at Profound. Starter includes 15 AI articles and 10 site audits a month, and the audits come with automatic AI fixes. An MCP server ships on every paid plan, read-only. The 7-day trial needs no card. Agencies can pitch from Agency Starter and convert a pitch to a standard project from $150 a month. In our scans of 33 runs in the 30 days to 22 September 2026, writesonic.com drew 53 citations from Gemini.

Strength: articles, site-audit fixes and Search Console in one self-serve plan.

Limit: three engines below Enterprise, with no Perplexity, Claude, Grok or AI Mode.

Pick it if: content production comes first and tracking second.

8. AthenaHQ (best for Profound-like engine breadth at a published price)

AthenaHQ's Starter costs $295 a month (checked 28 September 2026) and covers 11 models: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Mistral. That is Profound's Enterprise list minus Exa Search, plus Grok, Meta AI and Mistral.

Starter runs on 3,600 credits a month, with one credit per AI response. It includes a content optimization agent, on-page and off-page actions, and a smart robots.txt and llms.txt. AthenaHQ lists GA4 and Search Console integration, though the plan that includes it is not readable. A free Essential tier gives 300 credits on five engines. The API is a paid add-on with no published price, and check frequency is not published.

Strength: the widest engine list on this page, with a price you can read.

Limit: engines and prompts share one credit budget, and the API costs extra. Cheaper options are in AthenaHQ alternatives.

Pick it if: you chose Profound for breadth and want that breadth on a price list.

9. Goodie AI (best for content, outreach and technical agents)

Goodie AI's Core plan costs $478.80 a month billed monthly, or $399 billed annually (checked 28 September 2026). Core tracks five models daily: ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, Google AI Mode and Copilot. Gemini starts on Pro ($999 billed annually), and Claude and Grok are Enterprise only.

Core includes 120 prompts, 5 seats and 50 action credits. Its agents cover an AEO content writer, blog generation, an outreach agent and a technical agent that repairs llms.txt and sitemaps, with revenue attribution. Google Analytics, Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools connect on every plan, and MCP is included, while the API is Enterprise only. Core has a 7-day trial. The agency Growth plan costs $275 a month billed annually, with 10 pitch workspaces a month and client workspaces as an add-on, a structure close to Profound's.

Strength: a Profound-style agent suite, with Search Console and Bing, at a published price.

Limit: the most expensive entry here, with no Gemini on Core.

Pick it if: you want agents that act, not just report, and can budget $400 a month or more.

Already on an SEO suite? Semrush, Ahrefs Brand Radar and SE Ranking

Semrush (entry 6) is AI tracking sold inside an SEO suite. If your team already pays for one, the cheaper move may be the AI tracking that suite sells, next to your rank tracking and backlink data. These are add-ons or bundled allowances, not replacements for Profound's agents, and none of the three lists Grok.

Semrush is entry 6 above. It suits SEO teams that already work in Semrush and want competitor research on any domain; its custom-priced Enterprise AIO tier is the closest like-for-like with Profound Enterprise.

Ahrefs Brand Radar is the research option. Its AI Visibility Index, from $199 a month, lets you look up any brand across Ahrefs' prompt database with no setup, which, among the tools here, only Semrush's toolkit also offers, and API and MCP access come from Lite. Its limit is your own prompts: Lite's 5 tracked prompts equal 150 checks a month, and Claude draws 8 checks per update, so tracking several of your own buyer questions daily means buying prompt packages. Search Console data sits in a separate Ahrefs tool. The full field is in Ahrefs Brand Radar alternatives.

SE Ranking is the volume option. SE Visible's $99 Basic plan checks 200 prompts on five engines every day, more than any dedicated tracker's entry plan here, and the Core suite plan adds Search Console, MCP and 25,000 API credits. It does not list Claude, Grok or Microsoft Copilot; SE Visible's FAQ says Claude will be added. Options that add those engines are in SE Ranking AI tracker alternatives.

Pick a suite add-on if: your SEO reporting already runs in that suite and ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's two AI surfaces cover your buyers. Pick a dedicated tracker if you need Grok, Claude without check arithmetic, or content work done for you.

Profound vs Peec AI, Semrush and Scrunch: short verdicts

These are the three names buyers most often set against Profound. Each verdict uses the vendors' own pages as read by this site on the dates shown.

Profound vs Peec AI. Peec AI wins on getting started: self-serve signup, a listed $95 Starter for 50 prompts on three models checked daily, unlimited users and MCP on every plan. Profound wins on an API with its first paid plan, published SOC 2 compliance and Exa Search, which Peec AI does not list (both list SSO on Enterprise). Both keep Claude for Enterprise, and neither publishes a Search Console integration (checked 23 and 29 September 2026). The full comparison is in Profound vs Peec AI.

Profound vs Semrush. Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit is $99 a month per domain, billed annually, for 25 tracked prompts, with no trial, and lives inside a suite many SEO teams already pay for (checked 28 September 2026). Profound tracks more engines on Enterprise and adds content agents, but has no published brand price. Choose Semrush when the SEO team owns AI visibility; choose Profound when a separate AI search team needs agents, exports and SSO. Other options for Semrush users are in Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit alternatives.

Profound vs Scrunch. Scrunch publishes a Core plan, $250 a month in the browser view, for 125 prompts on ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Microsoft Copilot, with a 7-day trial that its page says needs no card. Gemini, Claude, Grok, AI Mode and its API are Enterprise only (checked 29 September 2026). Its distinctive product is AXP, which serves AI agents a version of your site; Profound's equivalent strength is its AI Marketer agents. Sitecore announced it had acquired Scrunch on 3 June 2026, so ask both vendors about contract terms. More in Scrunch AI alternatives and the full Scrunch vs Profound comparison.

What do AI engines recommend instead of Profound?

In our scans on 28 September 2026, we asked seven engines "best Profound alternative". Only five gave a software answer. Gemini read Profound as the streetwear brand and priced four hoodies at $195 to $220, and Claude asked what Profound is.

Among the five, Otterly.AI, Peec AI and Semrush were each named by all five, and AthenaHQ by four. ChatGPT cited a cituna.com page in its answer without naming Cituna in the text.

The prices were often stale. Grok and Google AI Mode quoted Profound at $99 a month, and AI Mode also at $399, the old brand tiers. Across all 22 buyer questions, engines stated a Profound price in 19 answers, 15 of them $99. Today $99 buys Profound's Agency Growth plan, not a brand plan. Profound's pricing page gives a crawler no number at all, as our crawler test of nine pricing pages found, which leaves engines to fill the gap from older pages.

How do you switch from Profound?

  1. Export what you can. Enterprise includes CSV and JSON exports, and agency plans export client workspaces. Trial users cannot export, but their prompts are preset, so write down the ones that matter. How to choose prompts to track helps you rebuild a list you control.
  2. Map the engines. Profound Enterprise tracks Copilot, DeepSeek and Exa Search. Check which of those your reports use, and whether the new tool covers them.
  3. Run both in parallel for two weeks. Load the same prompts and compare on the engines both tools track, usually ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. Expect different numbers, and judge whether both show the same competitors rising or falling.
  4. Move the content workflow. If AI Marketer drafted your pages, decide where drafting happens next: Writesonic, AIclicks, Goodie AI, AthenaHQ or Cituna.
  5. Move reporting and client workspaces last. Rebuild dashboards, then move clients one at a time, and check your Enterprise or agency contract's end date before you cancel.

Every tool's entry plan is set out in AI visibility tools compared, and budget picks are in the cheapest AI visibility tools.
