The best LLMrefs alternatives are Cituna, for daily checks of seven engines with Search Console and an MCP server at $39 a month, and Promptwatch, for the same mix with 50 prompts at $95. Rankscale is the pick for the widest engine choice from $20, and Otterly.AI is the cheapest fixed daily plan at $29. LLMrefs itself still gives far more prompts for the money than any of them, so the choice comes down to whether you need daily data and Search Console.
To see how seven engines answer the questions your buyers ask, start a Cituna free trial; it checks ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode every day.
Every price and feature below was read from the vendor's own pages on 25 September 2026. Prices are monthly, in US dollars, on monthly billing.
Where LLMrefs is strong
LLMrefs starts from keywords, not prompts. You import the keywords you already rank for, and it writes the fan-out prompts people ask around them, then ranks brands on share of voice and average position per keyword. For SEO teams used to keyword lists, that is a short step.
The price is the other draw. The All in One plan, $79 a month and marked "limited time only", tracks 500 prompts on every engine LLMrefs covers with no extra fees: ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Grok, Copilot, Meta and DeepSeek. Projects and team members are unlimited, geo-targeting covers more than 50 countries, and CSV export, API access and citation tracking are included. Its homepage offers a free account with no card, and the paid plan starts with a seven-day free trial.
Why teams look elsewhere
- Weekly, not daily. Its FAQ says prompts are checked continuously but every keyword is updated in the dashboard at least once a week.
- No Search Console on the pricing page. LLMrefs uses your keyword list, but joining AI answers to your real Google clicks is not listed.
- No MCP server listed. The plan names CSV and an API; an MCP connection for Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor is not mentioned.
- Keywords, not your exact questions. The prompts are generated for you. Teams that need to track the precise buyer questions from sales calls may want to write their own.
The ranking criteria
Each alternative's cheapest self-serve plan was checked against five yes-or-no questions:
- Are prompts checked daily on the entry plan?
- Does the AI tracker's own plan connect Google Search Console? (A separate tool from the same company does not count.)
- Is an MCP server included on the entry plan?
- Are Claude and Grok on the entry plan without an add-on or enterprise contract?
- Does the entry plan cost less than $100 a month?
Tools are ordered by how many questions they answer yes, with ties broken by the lower monthly entry price. The bar for the list: at least two yes answers, a published self-serve price, and at least four engines on the entry plan, since breadth is much of what LLMrefs offers. Eight tools pass. AIclicks and Peec AI both answer yes three times but track three engines at entry, so they are left out; the Peec AI alternatives note covers Peec.
Cituna and Promptwatch answer yes to all five, and Cituna ranks first on price. Rankscale answers yes to four, with Claude and Grok available on every plan but paid for in credits. The questions reward daily data and integrations; on prompt volume, LLMrefs beats every tool here, and the table shows it.
LLMrefs against eight alternatives
| Tool | Entry plan (monthly) | Prompts | Engines at entry | Checks | Search Console | MCP at entry | Claude and Grok |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| LLMrefs | All in One, $79 | 500 | All it tracks, 10 named | At least weekly | Not published | Not published | Both included |
| Cituna | Starter, $39 | 10 | 7 | Daily | Every plan | Yes, read; writes on Pro, $119 | Both included |
| Promptwatch | Essential, $95 | 50 | 4, from 9 answer engines plus OpenCode and Claude Code | Daily | Listed integration | Yes, with API | Both in the list |
| Rankscale | Essentials, $20 | Unlimited terms, 120 credits (up to 480 answers) | 17+ | Hourly to monthly | Not published | Yes | Both; Claude costs 2 credits |
| Otterly.AI | Lite, $29 | 15 | 4 | Daily | Not published | No; from Standard, $189 | Claude as add-on; no Grok |
| LLM Pulse | Starter, $59 (€49) | 50 | 5 | Weekly; daily on a separate plan | Not published | Yes | Paid add-ons |
| SE Visible | Basic, $99 | 200 | 5 | Daily | Not published | Not published | Neither (Claude "soon") |
| Ahrefs Brand Radar | In Ahrefs Lite, $129 | 5 (150 checks a month: 5 prompts daily on one engine) | 7 to choose from | Daily | Not in Brand Radar (separate GSC tool) | Yes, with API | Claude only |
| AthenaHQ | Starter, $295 | 3,600 credits | 11 | Not published | Yes, with GA4 | Not published | Both included |
"Not published" means the vendor's pages do not say so; the tool may still offer it.
The eight alternatives
1. Cituna: daily checks, Search Console and MCP for $39
Cituna's $39 Starter runs your buyer prompts every day on ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode. Search Console is on every plan, and read access to the REST API and MCP server is included, so Claude or another assistant can pull the engine answers, the sources they cite and your Google clicks in one place. You write the prompts yourself. It answers yes to all five questions, at under half Promptwatch's price.
Best for: teams leaving LLMrefs for daily data and a Search Console join, with Claude and Grok still covered.
Where it falls short: 10 prompts against LLMrefs' 500, one brand on Starter against unlimited projects, no Copilot, Meta or DeepSeek, write actions over the API and MCP need Pro at $119, and the three-day trial needs a card.
Start a Cituna free trial to see which engines cite your site before you pay; the first scan runs free without a card.
2. Promptwatch: 50 daily prompts with MCP, API and Search Console
Promptwatch's $95 Essential plan checks 50 prompts daily on four models you choose, within 6,000 responses a month, and includes both MCP and API access. Its model list covers ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews, AI Mode, Claude, Gemini, Meta's Llama, DeepSeek and Grok, plus OpenCode and Claude Code, and Google Search Console is among its integrations. There is a seven-day free trial.
Best for: teams that want daily data and every integration on the question list, with more prompts than Cituna.
Where it falls short: four models at a time where LLMrefs runs all of them, one project on Essential, and Agent Analytics and AEO articles start on Professional at $245. Promptwatch's pricing.
3. Rankscale: the widest engine choice, paid in credits
Rankscale's Essentials plan is $20 a month for 120 credits, where a ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini or AI Mode check costs a quarter of a credit, which it puts at up to 480 answers a month. All of its 17 or more engines are available on every plan, including Claude, Grok, Copilot, DeepSeek and Mistral, each search term can run from hourly to monthly, and MCP is included from Essentials.
Best for: teams that want LLMrefs' engine breadth and a daily schedule on the prompts that matter most.
Where it falls short: Claude costs two credits a check, eight times ChatGPT, so the allowance shrinks fast; exports and team seats start on Pro at $99, the REST API on Growth at $385, and Search Console is not listed. Rankscale's pricing.
4. Otterly.AI: the cheapest fixed daily plan
Otterly's Lite plan costs $29 a month, or $25 billed annually, for 15 prompts checked daily on ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot. Link citation analysis, reports with export and unlimited team members are included, and there is a free trial.
Best for: small teams that want daily checks, Copilot included, for less than half LLMrefs' price.
Where it falls short: 15 prompts, Claude, AI Mode and Gemini as paid add-ons, no Grok, and API and MCP only from Standard at $189. Otterly.AI's pricing.
5. LLM Pulse: LLMrefs' model, counted by prompt, with MCP
LLM Pulse's Starter tracks 50 prompts on ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, AI Overviews and Gemini, and a prompt counts once however many of those engines run it. Starter includes an MCP server for ChatGPT, Claude and Cursor, CSV, Excel and PDF exports, and unlimited team members. It lists €49 a month, or $59 with the currency set to US dollars.
Best for: teams that like per-prompt pricing but want an MCP connection.
Where it falls short: weekly checks at that price, with daily tracking on a separate €79 plan; Grok, Claude and Copilot are paid add-ons from €8 a month per model; Search Console is not listed; and the API starts on Scale at €299. LLM Pulse's pricing.
6. SE Visible: 200 daily prompts for $99
SE Ranking's standalone tracker checks 200 prompts daily on ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Mode, Perplexity and AI Overviews for $99 a month, about 30,000 answers, across three projects. It reads the answers users see in each interface and offers CSV export and an API covering everything in the app except users and billing, though the page does not say which plans include them. A 10-day free trial is available.
Best for: teams that want LLMrefs-scale volume, checked daily instead of weekly.
Where it falls short: no Claude (its FAQ says "will be added soon"), no Grok, and neither Search Console nor MCP is listed for SE Visible. SE Visible's plans.
7. Ahrefs Brand Radar: AI prompts inside an SEO suite
Ahrefs Lite, at $129 a month, includes 150 Brand Radar checks a month, enough for five custom prompts checked daily on one engine, API and MCP access, and Ahrefs' keyword and site tools. Custom prompts run on AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot and Claude.
Best for: SEO teams that like LLMrefs' keyword-first view and already work in Ahrefs.
Where it falls short: five prompts within 150 checks a month, a Claude update uses eight checks, Grok is not listed, and Search Console sits in a separate Ahrefs tool. Ahrefs Brand Radar, with more in the Ahrefs Brand Radar alternatives note.
8. AthenaHQ: eleven engines with Search Console
AthenaHQ's $295 Starter covers 11 models, Claude, Grok, Copilot, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Mistral among them, and connects GA4 and Search Console. It exports to CSV and adds on-page and off-page actions and a content optimization agent. A free Essential tier gives $25 of credit on five engines.
Best for: brands that want LLMrefs' engine coverage plus Search Console and can pay for it.
Where it falls short: it bills in credits, one per AI response, so more engines mean fewer questions; the API is a paid add-on at an unpublished price; and neither check frequency nor MCP is stated. AthenaHQ's plans, and the AthenaHQ alternatives note.
