9 Best AI Visibility Tools to Add to a Rank Tracker (2026)

Do you need an AI visibility tool if you already track rankings? Nine tools scored on engines, price, trial and fit, from vendor pages.

Disclosure: VisibilityOS is published by the team that builds Cituna, one of the tools discussed here. Read this as our view, not a neutral review.

Yes, if you want to know whether AI answer engines name your brand and cite your pages, because a rank tracker reports where a page sits in search results, not what ChatGPT or Perplexity says when someone asks a question. If Google positions are all you track, you do not. Of the ten AI visibility tools whose pricing and feature pages we recorded, nine pass our bar, and Cituna scores highest on our four checks: it reads seven AI engines daily from $39 a month and joins the answers to your Google Search Console data. Rankscale scores next, with more than 17 engines paid in credits from $17 a month billed yearly. If you would rather buy the AI layer from the vendor of your SEO tool, the routes are SE Visible (from $99 a month), the Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit ($99) and Ahrefs Brand Radar, which is included at 5 tracked prompts in Ahrefs Lite at $129 a month and sold on its own from $199.

Every price, engine list and feature below comes from the vendor's own pricing and feature pages as recorded on the dates shown in each entry, between 24 September and 17 October 2026. The scores read published pages, not dashboards, and where a vendor's page does not say something, we write "not published". If you have not settled what you need yet, our seven criteria for choosing an AI visibility tool give you a checklist to run before you compare plans.

How we ranked the 9 tools

How this list works: we started from the ten AI visibility tools whose pricing and feature pages we recorded, and kept a tool if its vendor publishes a paid self-serve price for a brand tracking its own name, which a reader can check without talking to sales. That is the minimum bar, and nine tools pass. Profound does not: after a 7-day trial that runs 50 prompts daily on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, its plan for brands is Enterprise, priced by quote, and Enterprise tracks up to 9 engines. Its agency tier lists $399 a month per client workspace (read 24 September 2026). Each of the nine is scored on four checks, for a total out of 6, and ties go to the lower entry price. The scores measure fit for a team that is adding an AI layer to the SEO tools it already has, not the accuracy of any tool's data. The thresholds are ours, and the table shows every score, so you can reweigh them.

The four checks:

  • Engines read on the entry plan (0 to 2): 2 for seven or more engines, 1 for four to six, 0 for three or fewer. Paid add-ons are not counted. Where a vendor sells several routes, we score the cheapest one whose page names every engine the vendor lists.
  • Entry price (0 to 2): 2 under $50 a month, 1 from $50 to $149, 0 at $150 or more. The figure is the lowest published monthly price of a paid self-serve plan on the route scored. A plan sold only billed yearly counts at its monthly equivalent, and the commitment is noted.
  • Try it first (0 to 1): 1 for a free plan, or a free trial whose length the vendor states.
  • Fits the SEO tools you already pay for (0 to 1): 1 if the vendor sells the AI tracking inside an SEO plan, or joins it to Google Search Console, and 0 where its pages as recorded say neither. For the Search Console side, see how to choose an AI visibility tool with Google Search Console integration.

The 9 tools, one by one

1. Cituna (best for reading seven engines next to Search Console data)

Cituna measures AI visibility and then works through the gaps it finds. Every day it asks seven AI engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Grok, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode) the questions buyers ask about a market, and records which brands each one names and which pages it cites. For each gap it writes the fix, such as schema, FAQ markup, llms.txt files and articles, and it can publish it to a website's CMS. It also turns the sites the engines cite into an outreach plan, with a pitch for each site and a status from planned to placed (home page, read 24 September 2026). Google Search Console data comes with every plan, and the buyer questions can be drawn from your own Search Console queries (pricing page, read 17 October 2026).

Starter costs $39 a month, billed monthly, for 1 brand and 10 buyer prompts checked daily on all seven engines, with fixes written on request, 30 AI-written articles a month, an outreach plan for cited sites and read-only API and MCP access. Pro costs $119 a month for 3 brands and 30 buyer prompts, and adds alerts, auto-generated fixes, competitor tracking and API and MCP write actions. Max costs $399 a month for 10 brands and 90 buyer prompts. A 3-day free trial of Starter needs a card and becomes Starter at $39 a month unless cancelled.

Strength: all seven engines, Search Console data and weekly visibility reports on every plan, with the fix for each gap written for you.

Limit: Cituna does not track Microsoft Copilot, Starter covers 10 buyer prompts for one brand, competitor tracking is listed from Pro, and cancelling stops renewal but does not refund a partial month.

Pick it if: you already have a rank tracker for Google positions and want AI answers read next to the same Search Console data, with the fixes and outreach to follow. Cituna's pricing page lists the Starter plan and the 3-day trial.

2. Rankscale (best for choosing engines and check frequency per prompt)

Rankscale monitors brands across more than 17 AI engines, among them ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Copilot and Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode (home page, read 24 September 2026). Its reports cover citations, sentiment and competitor analysis, with query fan-out on every plan, plus ad and shopping analysis for ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and Copilot, page audits of any URL and an MCP server on every plan (pricing page, read 17 October 2026).

You pay in credits and choose how often each prompt runs, from hourly to monthly. A check typically costs 0.25 credits per engine per prompt, while a Claude check uses 2 credits and a DeepSeek check 1. Essentials costs $17 a month, sold billed yearly only at $204 a year, for 120 credits a month, 2 brand dashboards and 10 page audits, with no credit rollover; at 0.25 credits a check, 120 credits is up to 480 AI answers a month. Pro costs $99 a month, or $84 a month billed yearly, for 1,200 credits (up to 4,800 AI answers), 10 brand dashboards and 50 page audits. Its 7-day free trial covers Pro with a limited credit allowance and becomes a paid plan only if you choose to continue. Pro+ costs $229 a month, or $195 a month billed yearly, for 3,000 credits and a REST API.

Strength: you choose the engines and the check frequency for each prompt, and the engine list includes DeepSeek, Mistral and Grok, which many tools skip.

Limit: credits make the bill harder to predict, because a Claude check uses 2 credits against 0.25 for ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and AI Mode. Essentials is sold yearly only, with no credit rollover and only 2 brand dashboards, and the REST API starts on Pro+ ($229 a month billed monthly).

Pick it if: you want to sample many engines on a small budget and are happy to manage a credit balance.

3. SE Visible (best for 200 prompts on five engines)

SE Visible is SE Ranking's AI visibility tool for brands and agencies. It tracks prompts daily on ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Mode and Google AI Overviews and records brand mentions, sentiment, competitors and the domains and URLs cited, from answers collected through each platform's own interface rather than its API. Its AI Sources view groups the most-cited domains and URLs by category such as media, blogs and forums (SE Visible page, read 24 September 2026).

Basic costs $99 a month, or $79 a month billed annually, for 200 prompts (about 30,000 AI answers analyzed a month), 3 projects and 5 answer engines. Core costs $189 a month, or $151 a month billed annually, for 450 prompts and 5 projects. Plus costs $355 a month, or $284 a month billed annually, for 1,000 prompts and 10 projects, sold through a demo. Users are unlimited, and a 10-day free trial is offered. SE Ranking also sells AI tracking inside its SEO platform, as its Core plan at $129 a month plus an $89 a month AI Search add-on (subscription page, read 24 September 2026).

Strength: 200 prompts on the entry plan, with the cited sites grouped into categories such as media, blogs and forums.

Limit: Claude, query fan-out analysis and local AI visibility are listed as coming soon, and country tracking covers the US, UK, Canada, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Spain, in five languages.

Pick it if: you already use SE Ranking, or you want a wide set of questions on five engines and a list of publications and forums the engines cite.

4. AthenaHQ (best for starting free, then 11 models)

AthenaHQ tracks how a brand appears in AI search and suggests what to change. Its paid plan covers ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Mistral, and usage is counted in credits, where one credit is one AI response. It adds source and competitor insights, content recommendations and a content optimization agent, and it lists integrations with Google Analytics (GA4) and Google Search Console, although its plan comparison does not show which plan includes them (plans page, read 24 September 2026).

Starter costs $295 a month, or $245 a month billed annually, for 3,600 credits a month across 11 AI models, with API access and extra credits as paid add-ons priced on request. The free Essential plan gives $25 of free credit (300 credits) on ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini and Copilot, and the plans page does not say whether that credit renews. Enterprise is custom-priced.

Strength: a free plan to start on, then 11 models on one self-serve plan, with content recommendations next to the source insights.

Limit: Starter, at $295 a month, is the only paid self-serve plan, API access and extra credits cost extra, and tracking in several regions and languages is an Enterprise feature.

Pick it if: you want to try AI visibility tracking free before paying and may later want Grok, DeepSeek and Meta AI read alongside the main engines.

5. Otterly.AI (best for a short prompt list tracked daily)

Otterly.AI runs your search prompts daily on ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot, with Google AI Mode, Gemini and Claude as paid add-ons. It reports brand mentions, website citations and a Brand Visibility Index, audits your URLs for generative engine optimization, and includes a prompt research tool (pricing page, read 24 September 2026).

Lite costs $29 a month, or $25 a month billed annually, for 15 search prompts, 4 AI engines, unlimited team members, 1 workspace and 3 recommendations a week. On Lite, Google AI Mode or Gemini costs from $9 a month and Claude from $29 a month. Standard costs $189 a month, or $160 a month billed annually, for 100 prompts, and adds API and MCP access, Agent Analytics, a Looker Studio connector and unlimited workspaces. Premium costs $489 a month, or $422 a month billed annually, for 400 prompts. New users get a free trial, and the pricing page does not state its length.

Strength: daily tracking on four engines, Microsoft Copilot among them, from $29 a month, with unlimited team members.

Limit: the cheapest plan tracks 15 prompts, Google AI Mode, Gemini and Claude cost extra on every plan, and API, MCP and Agent Analytics start on Standard ($189 a month billed monthly). Search Console is not published.

Pick it if: a small team wants a daily read on a handful of prompts, or, on Standard, needs to report AI search visibility for several clients from separate workspaces.

6. Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit (best for teams already in Semrush)

The AI Visibility Toolkit scores a brand's visibility in AI answers against its competitors. It checks chosen prompts daily on platforms such as ChatGPT and Google AI Mode, researches prompts and topics by volume, difficulty and intent, reports on share of voice, sentiment and narratives, shows the prompts and topics where rivals are cited and you are not, and audits whether AI crawlers can read a site. Its pricing page names ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini and Perplexity (toolkit page and pricing page, read 24 September 2026).

The toolkit costs $99 a month for 25 tracked prompts and 1 domain for Brand Performance reports, which update weekly. Fifty more prompts cost $60 a month, each extra domain costs $99 a month, and each extra user needs their own $99 licence. Semrush says a paid subscription is required, with no free trial of the toolkit on its own. Semrush One bundles it with SEO tracking: Starter costs $199 a month, or $165.17 a month billed annually, for 50 prompts tracked daily, 5 websites and 500 keywords in SEO tracking. Pro+ costs $299 a month, or $248.17 billed annually, for 100 prompts and 1,500 keywords, and Advanced costs $549 a month, or $455.67 billed annually, for 200 prompts and 5,000 keywords. The Semrush One plans offer a 7-day free trial (knowledge base and Semrush One pricing, read 24 September 2026).

Strength: if you already track keywords in Semrush, the AI prompts sit in the same plan, and the competitor view shows where rivals are cited and you are not.

Limit: the $99 toolkit tracks 25 prompts, extras are billed per prompt, domain and user, and Brand Performance reports update weekly, not daily.

Pick it if: your team already works in a Semrush account and wants AI visibility data added to it.

7. Ahrefs Brand Radar (best for teams already in Ahrefs)

Brand Radar measures how often brands are mentioned and cited in AI answers. Its AI Visibility Index looks up any brand across a database of search-backed prompts that Ahrefs runs through ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, AI Overviews and AI Mode, with no setup, while Custom Prompts tracks the questions you choose, including on Claude. Metrics cover mentions, citations, AI share of voice and estimated impressions weighted by search volume (Brand Radar page, read 24 September 2026).

Brand Radar AI costs from $199 a month, with research on any brand plus 83 tracked prompts a day (2,500 checks a month) on all platforms, Claude included. Custom prompts are sold in packs of checks: Basic costs $50 a month for 2,500 checks a month (the pricing page's example is 80 prompts daily on one platform), Growth costs $100 a month for 7,000 checks, and Scale costs $250 a month for 25,000 checks. Ahrefs Lite, Standard and Advanced cost $129, $249 and $449 a month, or $108, $208 and $374 a month billed annually, and include 5, 10 and 20 tracked AI prompts. There is no free trial (pricing page, read 24 September 2026).

Strength: you can look up any brand's AI share of voice against competitors without setting up prompts first.

Limit: Ahrefs says the Index may have limited coverage for brands with little or no search volume, its question sets are re-checked monthly on a 90-day window, so it is not a daily feed, custom prompts are billed per check, and each Claude update uses 8 checks.

Pick it if: you already pay for Ahrefs and want to benchmark an established brand's AI share of voice, or use the small daily AI prompt quota that comes with the plan.

8. Scrunch (best for mid-size brand teams)

Scrunch monitors how a brand shows up in AI search, tracking prompts, citations, competitors and sentiment, and audits websites for how AI agents read them. Its about page says Sitecore acquired it in 2026 and that it continues as a standalone platform (pricing page and about page, read 24 September 2026).

Core costs $250 a month for 125 unique prompts on ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Copilot, with 5 site audits a month, 1 brand workspace, 5 users and 5 competitors. A 7-day free trial of Core becomes a paid plan unless cancelled. Agency Core costs $500 a month, and Enterprise is custom-priced, adding Claude, Gemini, Meta AI, Google AI Mode and Grok for 9 platforms in all, plus API and Looker Studio access and SAML and OIDC single sign-on (pricing FAQ, read 24 September 2026).

Strength: 125 prompts with their citations, sources and sentiment on the entry plan, plus audits of how AI agents read your site.

Limit: Core covers four platforms, one country, one language and five competitors, and API, MCP and Looker Studio access, SAML SSO and the Agent Experience Platform are Enterprise-only.

Pick it if: several teams in a mid-size or enterprise brand need one shared view of prompts, citations and sentiment.

9. Peec AI (best for sharing the data with a whole team)

Peec AI tracks visibility, position, sentiment and share of voice daily against competitors, and its source analytics show the domains and URLs AI engines cite, classified by type. It also suggests prompts, runs a gap analysis with recommended actions, and reports on AI crawler visits and referrals. Plans are priced by the number of prompts tracked daily, and every plan includes unlimited users (pricing page, read 17 October 2026).

Each self-serve plan tracks 3 models chosen from ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, AI Overviews, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini and Naver AI, and more can be added as paid add-ons, Perplexity among them; Enterprise tracks up to 13, including Claude, Grok, DeepSeek and Mistral. Starter costs $95 a month, or $80 a month billed annually, for 50 prompts, 3 models and 1 project. Pro costs $245 a month, or $205 a month billed annually, for 150 prompts and 2 projects, and Advanced costs $495 a month, or $420 a month billed annually, for 350 prompts, 5 projects, multi-country tracking and a Looker Studio integration. An extra model costs $35, $85 or $165 a month billed monthly on Starter, Pro or Advanced. A free trial is offered, and the pricing page does not state its length.

Strength: cited domains and URLs classified by type, open to the whole team because every plan has unlimited users.

Limit: the cheapest plan tracks 50 prompts on 3 models, each extra model costs extra, and API access and SSO are Enterprise-only, as are Claude, Grok, DeepSeek and Mistral.

Pick it if: an SEO or content team is starting to track AI search visibility and wants the sources behind answers that name competitors but not you.

Which tool fits which job

Start with what you already pay for, then decide how many engines and how much of the follow-up work you want the tool to cover. For how AI search work relates to the SEO you already do, see AEO vs GEO vs SEO.

  • You track keywords in Ahrefs, Semrush or SE Ranking and want the smallest step: price your vendor's own route first. Ahrefs Lite at $129 a month includes 5 tracked AI prompts, Semrush One Starter at $199 a month includes 50 prompts tracked daily, and SE Ranking Core at $129 a month takes an $89 a month AI Search add-on. The standalone tools start at $99 a month for the Semrush toolkit and SE Visible Basic, and at $199 a month for Ahrefs Brand Radar AI.
  • Your rank tracker is from elsewhere and you want AI answers next to Search Console: Cituna from $39 a month, or AthenaHQ from $295 a month, which lists Google Search Console among its integrations.
  • A short prompt list at the lowest monthly price: Rankscale at $17 a month billed yearly, Otterly.AI at $29 a month for 15 prompts, or Cituna at $39 a month for 10 buyer prompts.
  • A wide prompt set: SE Visible with 200 prompts at $99 a month, or Scrunch with 125 at $250.
  • Microsoft Copilot: in the base engine set of Otterly.AI, Scrunch Core and AthenaHQ Starter, among Rankscale's engines, and in the Ahrefs Index. Cituna does not track it.
  • A free start: AthenaHQ's free plan, or a trial of 10 days (SE Visible), 7 days (Rankscale Pro or Scrunch Core) or 3 days with a card (Cituna).

To turn the nine into a shortlist, the seven criteria for choosing an AI visibility tool give you a checklist to run before you buy, and the 10 best AI visibility tools ranks a wider set by buyer need.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an AI visibility tool if I already have a rank tracker?

Yes, if you need to see whether AI answer engines name your brand and which pages they cite. A rank tracker reports where a page sits in search results, while the nine tools here report brand mentions, citations, share of voice and sentiment in AI answers. If Google positions are all you track, you do not need one. Entry prices run from $17 a month billed yearly (Rankscale) to $295 a month (AthenaHQ), read between 24 September and 17 October 2026.

Can the SEO suite I already use track AI answers?

Three SEO vendors in our table sell it. Ahrefs Lite, Standard and Advanced ($129, $249 and $449 a month) include 5, 10 and 20 tracked AI prompts in Brand Radar. Semrush One Starter, Pro+ and Advanced ($199, $299 and $549 a month) include 50, 100 and 200 prompts tracked daily. SE Ranking sells its Core plan at $129 a month plus an $89 a month AI Search add-on, and a separate product, SE Visible, from $99 a month (read 24 September 2026). Check your own tracker's plan page for what it includes.

Can I try an AI visibility tool free before paying?

Yes, for seven of the nine. AthenaHQ has a free plan with $25 of credit (300 credits), and the others offer trials: 10 days for SE Visible, 7 days for Rankscale's Pro plan and Scrunch's Core plan, and 3 days for Cituna's Starter plan, which needs a card. Otterly.AI and Peec AI offer trials without stating their length, and the Semrush toolkit and Ahrefs Brand Radar have none (read 24 September to 17 October 2026).
