For Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode recorded as two separate results every day, next to ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Grok and with Search Console included, the best AI Overviews rank tracker is Cituna at $39 a month, the lowest flat price among the ten tools here for that set. If you only need AI Overview flags inside keyword rank tracking, SE Ranking and Semrush add them to the trackers SEO teams already run; for the smallest budget, Keyword.com ($9.80 in credits) and Rankscale ($20) cost least; and Ahrefs shows for free which of your pages AI Overviews cite.
The split that matters most is how a tool gets the AI Overview. Keyword trackers load Google's results page for your keywords and note whether an AI Overview appeared and who it linked. Prompt trackers send a question and store the answer. The first tells you how often an AI Overview shows for the searches you rank for; the second tells you whether Google's AI names you when a buyer asks. Prices below were read from each vendor's own pages on 28 or 29 September 2026, and Semrush's on 16 October 2026.
Cituna records, for each tracked question, whether AI Overviews and AI Mode named your brand, where, and which pages they cited, next to five other engines and your Search Console data. Start tracking your brand in AI Overviews with Cituna, from $39 a month.
Picks by need
- AI Overviews and AI Mode as separate daily results, with five more engines and Search Console: Cituna, $39.
- A handful of queries on the smallest budget: Keyword.com, from $9.80 in credits.
- Choosing how often Google is checked, hourly to monthly: Rankscale, $20.
- AI Overviews daily with ChatGPT, Perplexity and Copilot on one fixed plan: Otterly.AI, $29.
- AI Overview presence inside an SEO rank tracker: SE Ranking (Core $129 plus the $89 AI Search add-on) or Semrush Position Tracking.
- Which of your pages AI Overviews cite, at no cost: Ahrefs' free AI Overviews Tracker. For one-off checks with no plan at all, see free AI Overview checkers.
How this list was chosen
Every tool here passed three tests, judged from its own pages. First, it says it reads Google AI Overviews, as opposed to Gemini or a generic "Google AI" label. Second, AI Overviews sit on a plan with a published price, so a buyer can sign up without a sales call. Third, the vendor publishes how often it checks. Tools that failed one test are in the last section, with the reason.
The ten are ordered by the lowest published monthly price at which a brand can track AI Overviews, add-ons included. We used the monthly rate where a page shows one and the annual rate where it is the only one shown; ties go alphabetically. Facts come from the vendors' pages read on 28 or 29 September 2026 (Semrush's plan price on 16 October 2026), and the share figures from the studies named in the text.
What we looked for beyond price:
- Keyword or prompt. Does the tool tell you whether an AI Overview appears for a keyword, or what Google's AI says when asked a question? Many teams need both.
- AI Mode as its own result. AI Overviews and AI Mode are different surfaces. In our scans on 28 September 2026 they named largely different tools for the same question, and Search Console's Generative AI report merges the two.
- Cadence. Ahrefs found AI Overview content changed 70% of the time across more than 43,000 keywords (published 11 November 2025), so a weekly snapshot misses a lot.
- Location and device. An AI Overview in one country, or on mobile, can differ from another. Where a vendor publishes its market coverage we say so; where it does not, ask before you buy.

| 9 | Ahrefs | Large keyword index, free page check | Keyword index and Brand Radar | Included in Brand Radar | $129/mo in Lite, or $199 standalone | Daily per prompt | 28-29 Sep 2026 |
| 10 | Semrush | AIO inside Position Tracking | Keyword tracker (Position Tracking) | Not confirmed in our read | $139/mo (SEO plan) | Daily | 29 Sep, 16 Oct 2026 |
"Not confirmed" means the vendor pages we read did not settle it; the tool may still offer it.
Why AI Overviews need their own tracker
AI Overviews do not appear on every search, so the first number to know is how often they appear for yours. Published shares differ widely because samples differ: Pew Research Center found an AI summary on 18% of 68,879 real searches by US adults in March 2025, while Seer Interactive counted 36% of informational queries but 8% of commercial and 5% of transactional ones across 53 brands (published 24 April 2026). Google publishes no share of its own.
The second number is whether you are in the AI Overview when it shows, and that needs a tool that reads it. Search Console's Generative AI report counts impressions only, merges AI Overviews with AI Mode and has no queries, as our guide on how to track Google AI Overviews sets out step by step. It also cannot see your brand named without a link.
The third is who Google cites instead of you. In the 30 days to 22 September 2026, YouTube was the site AI Overviews cited most in our scans of AI visibility questions, with Reddit second among publishers. What Google AI Overviews and AI Mode cite has the full list; a tracker that stores every cited URL lets you run the same check for your own questions.
The 10 AI Overviews rank trackers, by price
1. Keyword.com (best for a few queries on a tiny budget)
Keyword.com's AI Visibility plan costs $9.80 a month, or $7.83 billed annually, for 20 credits (read 28 September 2026). An AI Overviews check uses 0.25 credits, and so does an AI Mode check, which makes Google's two surfaces cheap to run side by side. Claude costs 3 credits a check and Grok is not offered. You choose weekly, daily or monthly updates.
The arithmetic decides whether it fits: 20 credits buy 80 AI Overview checks a month, which is about 18 queries checked weekly, or two or three checked daily. Search Console, GA4 and an MCP server come with it, and the 14-day trial needs no card.
Where it falls short: the entry credit pool is very small, so daily tracking of a real keyword set needs a larger tier.
2. Rankscale (best for setting your own cadence)
Rankscale's Essentials plan costs $20 a month, or $204 a year, for 120 credits, and every engine it supports is on every plan (read 28 September 2026). You set the schedule per project, from hourly to monthly, which suits AI Overviews that change often on a few important queries. MCP is included, and Search Console and GA4 connect in beta. Its AI Overviews rank tracker page was the first result for "ai overviews rank tracker" when we checked the search on 16 October 2026.
Where it falls short: credits are spent per run, so hourly checks drain them quickly, and the seven-day trial covers only the $99 Pro plan. Our read did not confirm how many credits an AI Overviews run costs.
3. Otterly.AI (best for a fixed plan with Copilot)
Otterly.AI's Lite plan costs $29 a month, or $25 billed annually, for 15 prompts, and Google AI Overviews are one of its four included engines with ChatGPT, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot, all checked daily (read 28 September 2026). AI Mode and Gemini are $9 a month each on Lite, and Claude $29. The home page offers a seven-day trial and the sign-up banner a 14-day one, both without a card.
Where it falls short: 15 prompts is a small set, AI Mode costs extra, and API access starts on Standard at $189.
4. Cituna (best for AI Overviews and AI Mode kept apart, with Search Console)
Cituna costs $39, $119 or $399 a month (read 29 September 2026). Every plan checks Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode daily as two separate results, next to ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Grok, with Google Search Console built in. For each question it keeps the day's answer with the brands named, your position when named and the pages cited, so a mention without a link shows up as clearly as a citation. It then writes the fix for each gap it finds and can publish the article; MCP is included.
That pairing is why it is our pick for that scope: Search Console tells you how often your pages appear in Google's AI features, and Cituna tells you, per question, which of the two surfaces named you and who it named instead. Its AI Overviews tracker page shows what is stored for each query.
Where it falls short: it does not track Microsoft Copilot, it is prompt-based rather than a keyword rank tracker, and the three-day trial needs a card.
Track AI Overviews, AI Mode and five more engines with Cituna, from $39 a month with Search Console included.
5. Geoptie (best for many markets)
Geoptie's Starter costs $49 month to month, or $41 a month billed annually, for 15 prompts and two brands (read 28 September 2026). Every plan tracks any four of seven engines, and both AI Overviews and AI Mode are among the seven, so a Google-heavy team can spend two of its four slots on them. Checks run daily across 123 markets, the widest published market list in this group. A free GEO rank tracker runs without signup.
Where it falls short: a prompt tracked in three countries uses three of the 15, and API and MCP start on Professional at $99. No trial is published.
6. LLM Pulse (best for five engines per prompt)
LLM Pulse's Starter costs €49 a month with weekly checks, shown as $59, or €79 with daily checks (read 28 September 2026). AI Overviews and AI Mode are on every plan with ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini, and each of the 50 prompts counts once however many engines run it. Claude, Grok and Copilot are add-ons. The 14-day trial covers weekly plans and needs a payment method. llmpulse.ai was itself the fourth most-cited site in AI Overviews' answers in our scans in the 30 days to 22 September 2026.
Where it falls short: the entry price buys weekly data, and AI Overviews change faster than that.
7. Peec AI (best for teams with many users)
Peec AI's Starter costs $95 a month, or $80 billed annually, for 50 prompts on three models chosen from ChatGPT, AI Mode, AI Overviews, Copilot, Gemini and Naver AI (read 29 September 2026). A team that cares mostly about Google can pick AI Overviews and AI Mode as two of the three. Users are unlimited and checks are daily; each extra model costs $35 a month on Starter.
Where it falls short: three models is a tight budget once ChatGPT is added, and Claude and Grok are Enterprise only.
8. SE Ranking (best for AI Overview flags in rank tracking)
SE Ranking sells AI Overviews tracking two ways (read 28 and 29 September 2026). Inside its SEO platform, the AI Overviews tracker records day-by-day position changes and keeps cached copies of the results page, so you can see the AI Overview as it looked on a given day; the AI Search add-on costs $89 a month on top of a plan such as Core at $129, and a free check covers five keywords. Separately, SE Visible Basic costs $99 a month, or $79 billed annually, for 200 prompts on ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Mode, Perplexity and AI Overviews, refreshed daily, with a 10-day trial.
Where it falls short: the keyword route costs $218 a month in total, and SE Visible lists Claude as coming rather than live. Neither covers Grok or Copilot.
9. Ahrefs (best for a large keyword index and a free page check)
Ahrefs' free AI Overviews Tracker shows which of your pages AI Overviews cite, with no signup (read 29 September 2026), and Site Explorer can filter your keywords by the AI Overview feature. For brand tracking, Brand Radar covers AI Overviews and AI Mode among seven engines; it is included in Ahrefs Lite at $129 a month or sold standalone from $199 (read 28 September 2026). It works from a large keyword index, so there is little to set up, and question sets are re-tested monthly while individual prompts run daily.
Where it falls short: Ahrefs publishes three different starting figures depending on the route, so confirm which engines your plan includes before buying.
10. Semrush (best for AI Overviews inside Position Tracking)
Semrush flags AI Overviews as a results-page feature in Position Tracking and shows the keywords where your domain is a source (read 29 September 2026). When you are cited, Position Tracking records a #1 ranking, with a toggle to view rankings with or without AI Overviews, which keeps the AI Overview from quietly inflating your average. Position Tracking is part of Semrush's SEO plan at $139 a month, or $117.33 a month billed annually (read 16 October 2026). Semrush also offers a free AI Overviews Visibility Checker.
Where it falls short: it is the dearest entry price here, and it reports AI Overview presence for keywords rather than whether your brand was named without a link. Semrush also sells a separate AI Visibility Toolkit, $99 a month per domain billed annually, that tracks 25 prompts on ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini and Perplexity (read 23 September 2026). This entry ranks Position Tracking, which reports AI Overviews for your keywords.
Which AI Overviews tracker should you pick?
- You need to know whether Google's AI names you, not only whether it links to you, with AI Mode as its own result: Cituna, $39.
- You need AI Overview presence across the keywords you already rank for: SE Ranking's tracker or Semrush Position Tracking, and add a prompt tracker if mentions matter.
- You need the lowest bill: Keyword.com from $9.80, or Rankscale from $20 if you want to set the cadence.
- You care most about AI Mode, Google's conversational search: see the best Google AI Mode rank trackers.
- You report in many countries: Geoptie, with 123 markets published.
- You only need a one-off list of your pages that AI Overviews cite: Ahrefs' free tracker.
For engines beyond Google, the best Perplexity rank trackers compares the same kind of plans on Perplexity, and the 10 best AI visibility tools covers all seven engines.
Other tools that track AI Overviews
These failed one of the three tests above, all as read on 28 or 29 September 2026. AthenaHQ's free tier includes AI Overviews on 300 credits and Starter costs $295 a month, but it does not publish how often it checks. Profound's seven-day brand trial covers ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Overviews, but its brand plans after that are custom-priced; agencies can buy pitch workspaces at $99 a month. Rankability includes AI Overviews on its one plan at $497 a month on a 12-month agreement, and the pages we read did not state a cadence. Other names in the lists that rank for this search, such as ZipTie, seoClarity, SEOmonitor and Nightwatch, were not checked against their own pages for this note, so they are not ranked here.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best Google AI Overviews tracking tool?
For AI Overviews and AI Mode tracked as separate daily results, with ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Grok and Search Console alongside, Cituna at $39 a month (read 29 September 2026). For AI Overview flags across a keyword set, SE Ranking and Semrush; for the lowest price, Keyword.com from $9.80.
Can I track Google AI Overviews for free?
Partly. Ahrefs' free AI Overviews Tracker lists your pages that AI Overviews cite, SE Ranking's free check covers five keywords, and Search Console's Generative AI report shows impressions in AI features. None of them tells you, every day, whether your brand was named without a link.
What is the difference between AI Overviews rank tracking and prompt tracking?
Rank tracking loads Google's results for a keyword and records whether an AI Overview appeared and which pages it linked. Prompt tracking asks a full question and records the answer, including brands named without a link. Keyword data shows reach; prompt data shows recommendation.
Does Search Console show AI Overviews separately?
No. Its Generative AI performance report combines AI Overviews and AI Mode, shows impressions only and is not in the API, so a separate tracker is the only way to see the two surfaces apart.
