Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit Review 2026: Price and Limits

Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit review: what $99 buys, 25 prompts, four engines, add-ons, Semrush One limits, and where Cituna's seven daily engines fit.

Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit is a sound buy for a team that already works in Semrush and wants to watch one brand on ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI answers: $99 a month per domain, billed annually, buys 25 prompts tracked daily, any-domain AI visibility reports and a prompt research tool. It is a weak buy for a second brand, for Claude or Grok, or for anyone who wants Search Console data without paying extra, because each of those is either an add-on at $10 to $99 a month or not offered. The bundled Semrush One plans lift the quota to 50 prompts at $199 and 100 at $299 (read 20 October 2026).

Every figure below comes from Semrush's own knowledge base (read 16 October 2026) and pricing page (read 20 October 2026) unless another date is given.

If your buyers ask Claude or Grok, Cituna checks your prompts on seven AI engines every day, with Search Console built in, and writes the fix for each gap, from $39 a month.

The verdict in five lines

  • Buy it if you already pay for Semrush and track one brand: 25 daily prompts plus research on any domain for $99 a month per domain, billed annually.
  • Move to Semrush One Starter if you want the SEO toolkit too: 50 prompts and MCP access for $199 a month.
  • Skip it if Claude, Grok or Copilot matter to your buyers: none is on Semrush's engine list.
  • Budget for add-ons: Search Console costs $10 more, a second domain $99 more and a second user licence $99 more.
  • No trial: the knowledge base says the toolkit has no free trial, although Semrush's suite offers seven days.

How we reviewed it

This review is built from Semrush's published pages, not a paid account. We read the toolkit's knowledge base article on 16 October 2026 and the pricing page on 20 October 2026, and compared them with the pricing pages we read on 25 September 2026 for our Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit alternatives. Where the two reads disagree, the newer one wins and the difference is named. A web search on 20 October 2026 checked that third-party reviews quote the same figures.

We asked six questions: what the toolkit contains, which engines it checks, how many prompts each route gives, what each extra costs, how fresh the data is, and what is missing.

What the toolkit includes

Semrush describes six reports. In plain terms:

  • Visibility Overview. An AI Visibility Score for any brand, worldwide or by region. The score compares how often a brand is named against the median of competitors Semrush picks for you.
  • Competitor Research. The prompts and topics where rivals are named and you are not.
  • Prompt Research. Keyword research for AI questions, with topic volume, difficulty and intent.
  • Brand Performance. Share of voice, sentiment and the themes engines attach to one chosen domain, with recommendations Semrush generates.
  • Prompt Tracking. Your own prompts, checked day by day.
  • AI Search Site Audit. A health widget in Site Audit that flags pages AI crawlers may not reach.

The research side is the toolkit's strength. You can look up any domain without building a prompt list first.

Which engines does it check?

On the pricing page we read on 25 September 2026, Semrush listed mentions from ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini and Perplexity. "Google AI" is not broken down into AI Overviews and AI Mode; the knowledge base names Google AI Mode and ChatGPT as examples for Prompt Tracking. Claude, Grok and Microsoft Copilot are not listed on any Semrush page we read.

Prompt Tracking covers more than 220 countries and territories, and Brand Performance lets you pick from over 68,000 locations and languages. The research reports cover 42 countries plus a worldwide view.

On the toolkit alone, each tracked prompt costs $3.96 a month ($99 divided by 25). The 25-prompt cap is the limit most buyers hit first. Semrush sells 50 more prompts for $60 a month, which lowers the blended figure to about $2.12 a prompt across 75.

Advanced has changed. On 25 September 2026 it was listed at $549 a month with 200 prompts; on 20 October 2026 the pricing page showed custom pricing, unlimited prompts and a demo request. The knowledge base we read on 16 October still says 200 prompts.

The toolkit also gives 300 AI analysis queries a day, 1,000 daily queries in Prompt Research, AI checks on up to 100 pages in Site Audit and 10 CSV exports a day of up to 1,000 rows each.

What the extras cost

The $99 is the floor, not the bill most teams pay. From the knowledge base and pricing page:

  • Search Console and Google Analytics: through the Base Report add-on, $10 a month, which also adds scheduling and PDF export. Pro Report, at $20, adds white-labelling.
  • A second domain or location in Brand Performance: $99 a month each.
  • A teammate: each user needs their own toolkit licence at $99. The pricing page also lists suite users from $45 a month; the knowledge base says the toolkit cannot be shared through shared limits.
  • More prompts: $60 a month per 50.

So a team of two tracking two brands, with Search Console in the reports, pays $99 + $99 + $99 + $10 = $307 a month for the same 25 prompts. A per-domain, per-user price is why agencies feel the cost faster than in-house teams.

The knowledge base adds a billing detail: if you buy the toolkit on top of an annual Semrush subscription, you pay a one-off prorated sum to the end of that term rather than monthly.

How fresh is the data?

Prompt Tracking updates daily, as do Visibility Overview, Competitor Research and Prompt Research. Brand Performance reports update weekly, so sentiment and share-of-voice movements lag your daily prompt results by up to a week. Site Audit runs on demand.

What it does not do

  • No Claude, Grok or Copilot. Four engines, with Google's surfaces folded into one label.
  • No trial. The knowledge base is direct about it: a paid subscription is required.
  • Search Console is not inside. It arrives through a reporting add-on.
  • One brand per $99. Every extra domain costs the same as the first.
  • Prompt quota grows only with spend. Twenty-five prompts is a small set for a brand with several products or markets; how to choose prompts to track explains how quickly a set fills.
  • No content workflow. It reports gaps and suggests positioning, but you write the pages.

Do AI engines read Semrush?

Heavily. In Cituna's scans of 22 buyer questions about AI visibility tools across seven engines, 41 scans in the 30 days to 25 September 2026, semrush.com was Perplexity's most-cited host for those questions, with 419 citations. Check the dated figures in this review against Semrush's current pages before you buy.

Who it suits, and who it does not

It suits:

  • Semrush customers who want AI visibility next to keywords and audits in one login.
  • Teams researching rivals more than tracking their own prompts, thanks to any-domain reports.
  • One-brand companies whose buyers use ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI answers.

It suits less well:

  • Agencies and multi-brand companies, because every domain and every user is another $99.
  • Brands whose buyers use Claude, Grok or Copilot.
  • Small teams needing a trial before committing.

If the toolkit is not the fit

  • Claude, Grok and Search Console on every plan, from $39: Cituna checks ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Grok, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode daily on 10 prompts at entry, keeps each answer with the brands named and pages cited, and writes the fix for each gap (read 25 September 2026).
  • AI prompts inside another SEO suite: Ahrefs Brand Radar, 5 daily prompts in Ahrefs Lite at $129 a month or prompt packs from $50 (read 28 September 2026); Semrush vs Ahrefs for AI visibility compares the two.
  • More prompts for the same $99: SE Visible tracks 200 prompts on five engines (read 16 October 2026); see our SE Ranking AI visibility tracker review.

The toolkit is strongest as research inside Semrush. If you also need daily answers from Claude and Grok next to your Search Console data, Cituna checks your prompts on seven AI engines and writes the fix for each gap, from $39 a month.
